LDN DEGREE SHOW

Scin Gallery, London

June 2015

After the Newcastle degree show ended, the team packed up  and transported a condensed version to be exhibited in the Scin Gallery in Shoreditch. Scin gallery is normally an architectural materials galley so the exhibition was curated with an archival style, complete with plan chest and salon style hang. I chose to exhibit a sample of my wallpaper alongside two pieces, a screen print and a cyanotype, in the plan chest.

NCL DEGREE SHOW

Newcastle University Fine Art Department

May / June 2015

This was the culmination of four years of study on the BA(Hons) Fine Art course at Newcastle University.

After returning from an exchange semester to the University of Newcastle, NSW in Australia I started filling my room with exotic house plants. I realised this was just a subconcious attempt to replicate the environment I had experienced over there. This got me interested in the idea of recreating paradise in an artificial way, much like a glass house in a botanical garden; creating an environment that would not exist without manipulated condititions allowing it to survive. I also drew inspiration from stage sets and interior design.

I submitted an installation comprised of cyanotyes, screen prints, photography, live and artificial plants, wooden displays and a variety of synthetic materials.

THREE BLIND MICE

The Annex Space, The NewBridge Project, Newcastle

May 2015

Three blind mice was an external exhibition of printmaking, sculpture and video with two other final year students. The similarities between the works were their playful nature rather than any visual correlations.  I showed three installation pieces comprised of screenprints, cyanotypes, live plants and found objects.

MARY

Tic Space, Newcastle University

March 2015

Mary was my first solo exhibition, it took place within the university. I showed a variety of works all inspired by the Marantaceae Calathea or Prayer Plant. This was my first experiment with printing wallpaper.

SQUAREONE II

North Wing, Ouseburn

January 2015

This exhibition was external from the University and took place in Uptin House. It was the second event put on by curatorial duo SquareOne which included video installations, sound works, live musical performances and 2D work. I exhibited an arrangement of live plants, screen prints and a cyanotype piece.

INTERIM

Life Room, Newcastle University

December 2014

Interim was a precursor to the final degree show. I exhibited in the first week along with half of my academic year group. I created an installation including screen prints, cyanotypes and live plants and incorporated the existing features of the space, such as a large radiator.

NE2

Sanctuary Artspace, Gateshead

February 2013

This was an exhibition with four other students, independent from the university, displaying some of our works from second year. I exhibited prints from tree ring rubbings and paintings from ice.

VIEWFINDERS

An Talla Solais, Ullapool

February 2011

This was the finished product of the Bridge House Art portfolio

course where I exhibited alongside the ten other artists who completed the course. I exhibited a series of corresponding paintings and prints depicting the Cairngorm mountains.
